Amy Smith, MA, LMHC

Primary Therapist

Amy is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in our Ocala office. Her interest in the mental health field began as a teenager and was cultivated by the psychology program and psychology club at her high school. This sparked her interest to pursue a career in mental health. She received her BS in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2015, and then acquired her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2019.

During her graduate school years, she gained experience at Citrus County’s drug, mental health, and dependency court treatment programs. She facilitated group therapy and individual sessions to help patients tailor and meet personal goals as well as create a strong support network among peers and professionals. She met bi-weekly with judges and lawyers as an advocate for patients’ needs and to update legal teams on progress.  After this rewarding experience, Amy joined Urban Counseling in Ocala, Florida to expand her knowledge base and gain invaluable experience with diverse populations with various challenges. During her time as an intern, RMHCI, and LMHC at Urban Counseling, Amy worked extensively with children and teens facing issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, loss, and trauma. She is also well versed in blended family issues, parent-child relationship issues, and reunification cases through family court.

Amy enjoys working with people of all walks of life and all ages. She welcomes everyone warmly and equally. While no two people are the same, she has one main goal for all that come to her- help others become the best version of themselves.

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. She also enjoys being active, reading, and traveling and exploring new places.
