Interventions

Why We Are Different

Unlike most intervention firms, Beachside Recovery Interventions + Consulting maintains a team of fully qualified individuals with backgrounds in the field of substance use and mental health. In addition to a team consisting of Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns, Master's Level Therapists, Interventionists, and Peer Support Specialists, Beachside Recovery Interventions + Consulting maintains a supervision team of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Qualified Supervisors as Partners and Clinical Directors to help maintain the ethical and structural integrity of the team and therapeutic, case conceptualization, and wrap-around case management services, as we hold ourselves accountable to the highest of standards. Furthermore, we pride ourselves on employing a team with experientially and culturally diverse backgrounds. We set ourselves apart by all team members maintaining real-world and professional experience in a plethora of areas including, but not limited to, interaction with the legal system, military, first responders, LGBTQ+ community, mental health, substance use, marriage and family, advocacy, faith-based, and community care.  Originating from many different backgrounds, our team has a firm grasp on how mental health, trauma, and substance misuse and abuse can impact the family dynamic as well as all other areas of life.

Our Approach

Our team works only from a patient-centered approach, utilizing each patient's strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences to engage in an intervention that is individualized to each person's specific situation.  We utilize both traditional intervention modalities including pressure to change and community reinforcement and family training in conjunction with theoretical orientations including, but not limited to humanistic and person-centered, solution-focused, and Gestalt therapies to engage the patient in the here and now with regard to their individualized circumstances and needs.  Combining both traditional intervention strategies and clinical therapeutic orientations increases the potential for a successful intervention and patient engagement throughout the full continuum of care. Furthermore, this approach expands the potential for increased intrinsic (internal) and extrinsic (external) motivation for change, thereby helping our patients to become empowered to rewrite their story and take back their lives.

How It Works

Although each intervention is specifically tailored to the patient and their specific needs, as well as the abilities and preferences of their loved ones, there is a general format of how to proceed. First, our team members will meet with the family and/or loved ones and provide some psychoeducation to better understand addictive pathology both as it relates to the individual and as it relates to the family system and interpersonal relationships. Next, our team member will discuss what boundaries friends and family members are willing to set with their loved ones, in addition to how each specific member of the group is willing or able to support their loved one holistically, including spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially. Next, we will work collaboratively to conceptualize a plan of action that is tailored to the patient and their needs and is consistent with all areas of support. Once we have established boundaries and support, we then move forward with the intervention. Upon the patient accepting help, our team member will arrange for immediate admission to the clinically recommended level of care to begin treatment.
